P. Bishop Museum Often referred to as the 'Museum of the Pacific' it
houses artefacts and treasures detailing the history of the Hawaiian Islands and
more. Diamond Head The world famous landmark that that distinguishes
Waikiki is an extinct volcano. You can stroll from town, journey into the crater
and get some marvellous views over the resort. Hanauma Bay Nature Park
About half an hour's drive on the other side of Diamond Head is Hanauma Bay. A
marine reserve you can snorkel among the reefs and view exotic fish. It's even
safe for very young children to paddle in and see colorful fish that will swim
around and between their feet. Honolulu Waikiki is a suburb of
the main city of Honlulu. Here you will find Pearl Harbor, the Bishop Museum,
Iolani Palace, and the Aloha Clocktower to name but a few attractions. Pearl
Harbor & USS Arizona Memorial A permanent memorial to those that lost
their lives in this wartime tragedy, Pearl Harbour is also the home of the USS
Missouri, one of the few ships to survive the attack, a submarine museum and the
official USS Arizona Memorial. Honolulu Zoo The Honolulu Zoo
is actually in Waikiki close to Kapiolani Park in the shadow of Diamond Head.
The Zoo has a reputation for its breeding of endangered species and features many
indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands. Polynesian
Cultural Center An hour's drive from Waikiki across the island is
the Polynesian Cultural Center. A 42 acre lagoon park it is composed of seven
authentic villages representing the cultures, in dance, song, lifestyle, costumes
and architecture of, Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga The Marquessas and New
Zealand. |
